Book Club: Unprotected: A Memoir by Billy Porter

Billy's story is a poignant story of his life’s work of accepting and loving his identity as a Black, gay man in the US. This memoir also has a very meaningful moral message, especially for church people: Jesus loves. Period. Listening to Billy’s words are a gift and a performance of the life of someone who has had to grow up faster than he should have, has had to protect himself, and has been mistreated, undervalued, underestimated, and more. And yet, he has been able to rise, like Maya Angelou stated, “And still I rise.” This is a top read, pick up this book.
